No matter what diet you follow, it’s important to have those recipes that you know you can satisfy your cravings.

One of those recipes, at least for me, is a delicious, chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe. I don’t know about you, but good, old-fashioned chocolate chip cookies are about the best. There is nothing like them. They’re comfort food, a treat, a snack, a dessert – all rolled into one.

The downside of most cookie recipes is that they’re loaded with so much fat and sugar that it is nearly impossible to have a cookie (or two) without destroying your whole day. That just makes it depressing. But don’t worry – these cookies are perfect. Quite possibly, the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever. EVER.

They’re soft and chewy, filled with delicious chocolate chips, and are just a few points for 2 cookies! They’re perfect for when you feel like you really need a treat, but they won’t throw off your whole day. You can enjoy every bite without an ounce of guilt.

To make this recipe a little lower calorie, I used a combination of light butter and canola oil. Light butter is a little lower in calories and fat than regular butter. The canola oil is lower in saturated fat but high in unsaturated omega fatty acids that are brain and heart-healthy.

Creaming together the butter, oil, and sugar helps to aerate the butter and creates a light and fluffy cookie. It’s one of the secrets to light and tender cookies and muffins. The butter also helps to brown the cookies a little, but since there’s not too much, they won’t burn (unless you forget the timer). The edges should be golden brown and nicely caramelized.

A little vanilla is perfect to help blend the flavors together. Even though these cookies are chocolate chip, the vanilla acts to combine the flavors so that they complement each other. Baking soda helps the cookies spread just enough to be soft and chewy – the perfect cookie.

But don’t forget the egg white. Egg whites are very low in calories and fat – a perfect ingredient to add to healthy, low-calorie cookies. But leaving the egg yolk out does more than just lower the calories – it allows the natural flavors of the vanilla and chocolate to do their magic.

Eggs help to emulsify the ingredients but also add extra liquid. You’ll love the chewy, moist, and mild cookie that has rich chocolate chips.

Enough about the science of cookie making. I love these cookies – it’s as simple as that. When you’re on ANY diet, you need a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe to get you through the rough days and this one is perfect for Weight Watchers.

The cookie dough comes together in just a few minutes while the oven is preheating. The cookies only need about 5 minutes to bake, so within just a short time, you can enjoy a warm and gooey chocolate chip cookie for your afternoon snack…or dessert…or treat for a job well done…or a pick me up…well, you get the idea.

  1. Delicious , I made them with light brown sugar regular butter and added 1 teaspoon of almond butter to give them a peanut butter flavor. Love them

  2. I love these cookies! I had trouble with 1/2 tsp. size so I just went for the 1tsp. My husband didn’t notice a difference.

YUCK!! better to avoid sweets & when you CAN have them, have the REAL deal. This is nonsense.
Any baking sans butter is a sin.

    • I made htese but mistakenly thought the serving size was 1 cookie thus made 24 cookies. That worked out to 3 points per cookie o Freestyle. Next time will make smaller.

    • Oh, get off your high horse, Sue. If you don’t want it, don’t eat it. No need to announce your opinions.

I loved these. I added 1/4 cup flour, half a banana, a pinch of cinnamon and used Splenda sugar. Measured 1/2 tsp made 50 cookies. They were yummy. Hard part is only eating two. I think I had ten.

  5. Does anybody know how many smart points these would be please?
    Thanks x

  6. I don’t know how you got 48 cookies out if this recipe! I made them as small as possible and got 26. Still 1 point each is good

    • I made them twice if you use 1/2 tsp not heaping I always get from 45-50

  7. For those of you who are trying to calculate the points. It says it makes 24 servings, and each serving is 2 cookies. So, you should get 48 cookies using the half teaspoon.

Ok, I am the worst baker, I made these cookies today, and I used splenda instead of sugar, I also could not get 48 cookies, I used a melon baller and I did get 40 cookies, not bad if I do say so myself, now for the taste, for a cookie that is 1 point, they are delish, almost forgot used mini chips, gave one to my husband to taste he also loved them, afer tasting he said I thought you were on a diet, I dont think cookies are on a diet, well hubby, they are when you make them weight watcher style, give them a try, no they are not toll house, but they are very good, you can tweek the recipe, as I said I used splenda, and mimi chips. 1 point cookies yeah!!!!

    • For the serving size of 2 cookies so 12 servings it is actually 3 points! I calculated the recipe on the recipe builder on my WW account… Still delicious but I’m sad they are still one point.

      • It says it makes 24 servings, 2 cookies per serving, which is 48 cookies.

  9. They actually arent to bad for a WW reciepe. I just made them and was pleasantly surprised. I did teaspoon sizes and a litle bigger. They satisfied my sweet craving well. :-)

  10. thank you so much!! i have such a big sweet tooth and i HAVE TO have my dessert. these are so good! better than most of the full fat recipes i’ve tried over the years. my batch yeilded 18, i guess i didn’t make them small enough! but i figure that about 1 1/2 pts per cookie so 3 cookies and half a glass of 1% milk and i had a perfect dessert! even my husband loved them and he isn’t a sweets person.

  11. This is misleading…I calculated this out and if you get 24 cookies from the recipe, then ONE cookie equals TWO points.

    • Do the math Reply

It is actually not 24 cookies. It is 48 cookies. A serving size is 2 cookies and it yields 24 servings. 24×2=48. So 1 point for 2 cookies if you make 48 or 1 point for a larger cookie if you make 24.

  12. Just made these and they have a very strange taste to them. I was so excited to finally find a weight watchers friendly cookie recipe that did not use “fake sugar.” Trying to cook the next sheet of cookies a bit longer and hoping that will help.

  13. Could you please record the full nutritional value (calories, fat, carbs, etc.) if possible? Thanks!

  14. Whoops, I followed the recipe exactly, except for the part about using 1/2 tsp to measure the dough. I used a tablespoon like always. Mine made 8 good sized cookies. So if this is 24 pts for the entire recipe, that makes each of my cookies 3 pts. Still not terrible! 1 big cookie satisfied my sweet tooth. These cookies rival Tollhouse! Thanks for the recipe!

  15. When I built this recipe in the recipe builder, it shows as 2 points for
one cookie, and 3 points for two.  Still, with my gluten-free flour and
xanthan gum (less points than regular white flour for some reason), it
shows as 1 point per cookie and 3 points for 2.  We might need to update
this, it’s probably because of points plus.  Sorry to put a damper on
    things.  Still looks good though!

    • Sorry! addendum:  it makes 48 cookies!  So according to the recipe builder it would be 2 points for 2 cookies, and or with the GF flour (I use the “Better Batter” blend), it’s just 1!  I was reading “24 cookies” for some reason, and not 24 SERVINGS.  Awesome!  Sorry about that… Points+ just changed everything so I had to plug it in.

  16. I adapted these to be gluten free, I used an all-purpose gluten free flour and added 1 tsp xanthan gum, they came out beautifully! Just making a repeat batch now but i forgot to add the gum lol, so we are having chocolate chip pancakes for morning tea :D I’m sure they will taste just as delicious though :)

  17. How many calories are in a serving?  My husband wants to know! He was really surprised how good they were! :)

    • Unfortunately, I don’t have the nutritional info for all of my older recipes that have the old Weight Watchers Points on them. I’m working on rebuilding them so I can get the data needed to calculate the new Points Plus.

    • I baked them on parchment paper and had no problem removing them – they are small but Weight Watchers is about portion control folks!

  18. This recipe was posted in 2009. What is the Points Plus for this recipe? Tried a WW oatmeal cookie recipe and didn't like it, so would like to try this one :-)

    • This is the worst Weight Watchers cookie recipie. Maybe it worked for the original points but it’s 35 points for the batch with points plus AND the cookies are tiny. If you can get 24 they are still 1.5 points and tiny.

Just make the Nestle recipie and make them 3 times smaller than normal and you’ll have a better tasting cookie for less points.

  19. I made these the other day and yes they were small ppl but they were still REAALLLLLLYYYY good! my Nephew loved them, and at 1 point for 2 why would anyone complain?! I wrote this recipe down and put it in my cook book sooo yum!

  20. WeightWatchers is not a diet, its a LIFESTYLE!!! Diet is a no-no word in my house haha

  21. i was just wonderin how big do you make them like the measurement. Like a tsp or tbs something like that

  22. i really like these cookies, 1 pt 4 2 makes it even better. i did not have any cho chips so i added some coco powder they turned out very good.

  23. These are great. I suggest greasing the pan, because they can be tricky to remove.

  24. I can't wait to try this recipe, but I do have a question. Will the point value change if I use milk chocolate chips? I do not like semi-sweet. Thanks!

    • Good question! I don't think the calorie difference will be enough to change the point value, but to be on the safe side, just compare the calories listed on the nutritional info labels of the chocolate chips when you are at the grocery store.

  25. This recipe is okay…

I've been trying to perfect baking chocolate chip cookies with brummel for a few years now. They always turn out fluffy. I'm not on weight watchers (just a health nut) so I thought this recipe might be the solution I was looking for since I hadn't thought of adding canola oil. It didn't work, the cookies still turned out fluffy (with butter, they seem to flatten, then puff up just a bit. With brummel, they never get dense.) Also, these cookies are very small when you follow the recipe exactly. So, the second time I just made 12 bigger cookies.

If you're looking for just something sweet, this cookie will do the trick. If you're looking for a good healthy cookie I'd recommend doing half butter and half brummel. (I also used a few more chocolate chips, used whole wheat flour and a little flax seed meal).

  26. I cannot find a light stick butter, even the one you mentioned, what other brands do you suggest?

    • You probably won't find the light butter in a stick form — you'll wanna get a tub version. You can also try Smart Balance butter, though my fave is the Brummel and Brown Spread.

  27. Hi~

I just started WW and so glad I found your wonderful site!! Love everything about it.

Is the photo of these cookies from the actual recipe? They look amazing!

48 cookies from this small recipe must produce tiny cookies…more like a one bite drop…but when a craving hits, YUM! Thanks so much for sharing your recipe adventures.

    • This picture is just a generic chocolate chip cookie pic, but the Weight Watchers cookies do look about the same – just smaller. They are bite size, but they do make a great small snack when you need to satisfy that craving! Plus, they are just so darned cute!

      • Vickie Garner Reply

No wonder they are only 3 points for two cookies. They are 1/2 the size! And I followed the recipe exactly and only got 24 cookies. I used a reg teaspoon like Ibuse for toll house but only used 1/2 the batter I normally would. If I had made 48, they would be the size of a qusrter! I will use the principall ingredients for this recipe in the toll house recipe abd see how thst works.

  28. Just curious…where is this recipe from? It seems to decadent to only be 1 point per serving!

    • That's an actual Weight Watchers Recipe. But the cookies are quite small…not the regular sized chocolate chip cookies you are imagining. :)

      • When I built this recipe in the recipe builder, it shows as 2 points for one cookie, and 3 points for two.  Still, with my gluten-free flour and xanthan gum (less points than regular white flour for some reason), it shows as 1 point per cookie and 3 points for 2.  We might need to update this, it’s probably because of points plus.  Sorry to put a damper on things.
