I just wanted to thank you all so much for all your support with the hassle I’ve been dealing with regarding all the Weight Watchers Recipes that I’ve posted. Many of you have sent me emails expressing your suggestions and enthusiasm for my blog, and I just wanted to let you all know that it is much appreciated! I’m also so touched to hear about all of the success many of you have had with Weight Watchers, and that’s incredible!! It’s so inspiring to hear. And you guys had great suggestions for ways that I can post helpful Weight Watchers recipes without actually using their trademarked terminology. Although I am still making changes on the site, it turns out that they will not have to be that major. Instead of “Weight Watchers Points”, I will use the term “Point Value” or “Weight Watcher Point Value”. Hopefully Weight Watchers will leave me alone if I use these terms instead! The free printable food journal is still up and ready for download, I just had to reword a few items on it, but it still has all the helpful info you’ll need. And I will begin the long task of changing the names of my previously posted recipes. Nonetheless, I will do my best to continue to post awesome recipes that will be helpful to anyone following the Weight Watcher plan, so no worries!

Also I know that many of you have asked me to send you the free Weight Watchers Points Calculator that I had, but unfortunately, I’m not able to send it because it was a code…not a link or anything that could be viewable in an email. But I am trying to look into a way to get a calculator on the site…hopefully I can come up with something soon!

More recipes on the way soon, so stay posted! And thanks again for all of your encouragement and support! You guys ROCK!!

Hi Everyone! Thank you all so much for reading my blog! I know that most of you are Weight Watchers members and have found these recipes to be really helpful. They have been incredibly helpful to me as well, which is why I created this blog in the first place.

But now I have some news to share regarding some changes that I am being forced to make to the site. I was recently contacted by Weight Watchers about using their “Points” calculator, their recipes, and the useage of the term “Points” or the useage of the term “Weight Watchers” for any recipes that I’ve created, or any that have been submitted by my readers. Bottom line is, I’m not allowed to use any of their info, as it is trademarked and is their copyrighted property. I tried to work with them, explaining that my website only says positive things about Weight Watchers, and that it’s quite helpful to their members, but they felt that my site would confuse people into thinking that I am affiliated with Weight Watchers. I get the legality of it all, but it’s really such a shame, and unfortunately, the only people who get dis-serviced here are all of you. These recipes are here to help you, as Weight Watchers members, achieve weight loss success. I’m really quite surprised that such a large corporation as Weight Watchers would take the time to bother with an individual like me, who is nothing but supportive of their program and their paying customers, but it is what it is.
So, from now on, I have to make some changes to the site….don’t worry, there will still be plenty of recipes that I will post, but I cannot refer to them as Weight Watchers Recipes nor can I give them a “Points” value. So, I need to spend a LOT of time going through my blog and removing all the Weight Watchers Points and Weight Watchers Recipes terms, and until I have finished that, I may not be able to post a lot of recipes as frequently as I used to. But please check in, because I WILL still be posting…just not daily for a while. Also, I will need to find alternative phrasing in order to supply you all with the info that you need to know from the recipes. Hopefully, you’ll be able to understand my new recipe format. :)

So that’s the scoop for now! And if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! Thanks again for all your support and for taking the time to read me!

I’m taking a break from my usual recipe chat to share the second most fabulous weekend ever (which happens the follow the first most fabulous weekend ever – my wedding, which was last weekend, on Sunday May 25th). Let’s start with Friday…at 11:30 pm on Friday night, I along with 2 of my best girlfriends, went to see the highly anticipated, long awaited Sex and the City feature film starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. And, I must say, it did not disappoint!

CAUTION: Sex and the City spoilers ahead! If you have not seen the film and do not want to hear about what happens, STOP READING NOW! There, don’t say I didn’t warn you :).

Ok, so as much as I’d like to give my unbiased review of this film, I can’t. I loved the TV show, so of course I loved the movie. I laughed, I cried, I might have even peed a little. As I sat there watching the drama unfold, I felt like was reuniting with old friends. I love those women, and I was thrilled to see them all again! Overall, I thought that they stayed true to their characters that we all know and love – Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbs.

The only thing that I was slightly disappointed about, was Carrie’s decision to take Mr. Big back after he ditched her on their wedding. Yeah, I get why and all, but still. I think it sadly reinforces a bad message to young, American women — chase after the man, and even if he treats you like crap, keep chasing, and eventually he will marry you. Not good. Though, I’ve always been a big Aidan fan and was appalled when Carrie broke up with him. And I secretly hoped he would appear in the movie and she would realize what a fool she had been and take him back. Sadly though, as the hardcore SATC viewers know, this wouldn’t be possible because Aidan is married to another woman and has a baby with her. Dammit! I even looked in her apartment to see if the Aidan chair was still there and it was nowhere to be found!

Oh, and only one thing that I did NOT LIKE AT ALL – Jennifer Hudson. Absolutely not. Her acting was horrendous – fake and insincere. Bad casting choice. And personally, I don’t think she should’ve won the Oscar for Dreamgirls, but alas, I have no say.

I heart this movie, but seeing it only made me so, so sad that the TV show is over. I miss it terribly and keep praying that the producers could convince the cast to get the show running again. Stupid HBO! Damn you! But at least I still have my DVD’s to watch over and over again — sad, but true.

When I went to buy my wedding dress, I was overcome with so many feelings – excitement, nervousness, exhilaration, and yes, even fear. I had come to realize that my wedding gown would probably be the most important, and the most expensive, white dress I’d ever own ever own. So before making this very special purchase, I made sure to do my research and learned what the most important questions were to ask when I went wedding dress shopping. So, if you are a bride, bridesmaid, maid of honor, or the mother of the bride, read below and find out what questions should definitely be asked in order to help the bride find the wedding dress of her dreams!

BEFORE YOU EVEN GO TO THE DRESS SHOP, CALL THE STORE AND ASK:

What are the days and times that the shop is open?

Will an appointment be necessary?

Which designers are carried in this particular wedding gown store?

Will I need to bring my own undergarments to try on with the dress, or will the bridal shop provide them for me?

What are the price ranges and size ranges carried in the store?

Can a sample be ordered for me to try on if I find a wedding dress I like, but is not carried at the store?

Is the dress shop planning to host a trunk show anytime soon? If so, fort which dress designer?

Will I be permitted to browse the wedding dresses myself, or must I only try on what the salesperson chooses for me?

THE QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ASK YOUR SALESPERSON:

Who is the designer of the wedding gown?

After placing my order, how long until the dress arrives?

Is it possible to have the order rushed?

Will there be any differences in the dress I receive versus the wedding dress sample one I am trying on in the store?

Is there a fabric sample I can see and feel?

Is there a particular veil or headpiece that the bridal shop would recommend with this dress? If not, can the store recommend another store where I can find an appropriate veil or headpiece?

Does the store carry veils and various bridal headpieces or hair jewelry?

Will the same salesperson be helping me with all my gown fittings?

What alterations are necessary for my wedding dress?

What is the cost for alterations?

Is it possible to order the dress with a different neckline, sleeves, or train length?

Can I have my alterations estimate in writing?

When my bridal gown finally arrives, if I decide that I want to change or alter something like the neckline or train length, what will the cost be?

Is it possible for alterations be made to the veil or headpiece?

If I’m doing for pre-wedding pictures, can I borrow the my wedding dress for my pictures and then return it to the store for pressing so that it’s wrinkle free for the wedding?

If I also have my bridesmaids order their bridesmaid dresses with this shop, will they get a discount? Perhaps some free alterations?

What are the store’s cancellation/refund policies?

How much is the dress deposit?

What type of payment is required? Cash, check or credit card?

Does my receipt show the size, designer’s name, the color, price, fabric, style name and style number, delivery date, and manufacturer?

When will I owe the remaining and final balance for my new wedding dress?

In my quest for my own wedding gown, I found that it’s so important not to be timid when it comes to asking questions. Even though it may not feel like it, you are, in fact, making a financial investment. And when you are bridal dress shopping, I highly advise that you choose a different wedding dress store if you feel at all uncomfortable with the answers to any of these questions.

If you’ve ever wondered what you can do to make a change and help ensure a healthy planet, you’re not alone. Most people want to contribute to a healthier planet, but feel like their changes would be too insignificant. But that’s not true! Check out this list I found, from Conservation International, of ten simple changes you can make to your everyday life to help conserve our planet…

1) Replace your incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lights (CFLs).
Look closely at labels when buying light bulbs. Those marked as CFLs last 10 times longer and use 66 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs while delivering the same light levels. As a result, CFLs accrue net savings between $30 and $45 over their lifetimes, depending on your cost of electricity, the wattage size of the CFL, and the lamp’s lifespan (manufacturers make CFLs that last 6,000, 8,000, or 10,000 hours). The return on investment is 15 times higher than leaving your money in a bank account or the average return on Dows-Jones stock investments. CFLs also reduce the release of greenhouse gas emissions and are safer because they burn at a lower temperature (160° F or less) than incandescent and halogen lights, which can burn at temperatures up to 500° F. To learn more download this PDF from energystar.gov.

2) Turn down the thermostat just three degrees in the winter and up three degrees in the summer. You can prevent the emission of nearly 1,100 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.

3) Inflate your car tires. When walking or biking isn’t feasible, you can do something to better protect the Earth while driving. Take a step in the right direction by inflating your car tires. Pumping them up can improve your gas mileage by about 3.3 percent — a savings of about 7 cents per gallon. It’s the right thing to do for your wallet and the right thing to do for the Earth.

4) Turn down the hot water heater. Set your water heater to 130° F. While you’re at it, turn down your house thermostat during the winter to 55° F when you go to bed or leave home. These simple actions can have enormous positive consequences, preventing the emission of more than 1,100 pounds of carbon dioxide over the course of the year, while cutting your energy bill by more than 10 percent. And that’s just from you! Get your friends on board, and the benefits will multiply.

5) Choose your seafood wisely. We can’t afford to wait until 2008. The world’s seafood will be entirely depleted by 2048, according to an early November report in the journal Science. That means the moment to shape up is now. By buying and eating certain types of seafood, you can discourage harmful fishing practices and avoid the more depleted or threatened species. Take a look at Seafood Choices Alliance or Seafood Watch to make smart choices.

6) Purchase EnergyStar-labeled appliances. EnergyStar products are among the top 25 percent most efficient and can provide a 30 percent return or better through lower utility bills.

7) Wash and rinse in cold water. If everyone in the United States alone switched to cold water with their washing machines, we could save about 30 million tons of carbon dioxide each year — and more than $3 billion in energy costs, collectively. And what’s more? Cold water cleans your laundry just as well as hot water.

8) Buy locally produced meats and produce. Sounds like a good idea, but you don’t know where to start? Just type in your zip code on Local Harvest’s website to see a list of farms and farmers’ markets close to home, as well as nearby restaurants committed to supporting their neighbors. Buying locally produced food cuts out the middlemen and the vast amounts of energy required to get your products onto store shelves. Most produce in U.S. supermarkets travels an average 1,500 miles before it is sold!

9) Drink more water from reusable glassware. It’s great for your bank account, your health, and your planet. The average American consumed more than 400 beverage bottles and cans in 2006, leaving behind wasted glass, plastic, steel, and aluminum. That adds up to excessive amounts of fossil fuels and hydropower for mining, processing, refining, shaping, shipping, storing, refrigerating, and disposing of those materials. Of course, changing your drinking habits both at home and at work is applicable to just about every other habit, as well. You’ve heard it before and you’ll hear it again: Reduce, reuse, and recycle.

10) Walk, bike, and carpool. In the United States, the car represents one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. However, you don’t have to give up your car for a healthier planet, just expand your transportation options. You can significantly reduce your emissions by commuting to work. Try combining trips to minimize emissions, which are greatest at the beginning of a journey before the engine has reached optimum temperature and efficiency. When purchasing your next car, make it a fuel-efficient one. Hybrid cars can get twice the fuel efficiency of the average new car, cut greenhouse gas emissions by half or more, and reduce urban air pollutants. Carpooling saves energy, cuts on additional pollution, and allows you to take a turn as a passenger instead of driving everyday. Car-sharing (not pooling) is available in numerous U.S. cities. Car-sharing enables you to rent a car just when you need it. Each car-share vehicle displaces four to eight privately held cars, requiring less parking area and creating less road congestion. If you live within an hour’s bicycle ride to the office (~10 miles), consider biking to work one or more days a week.

So how exactly, does an actor get a Hollywood agent? How does he/she manage to stand out from the swarm of wannabes and score a genuine agent who is willing to represent him/her? It’s no easy task, as this is something that I have been trying to do for the 7 years I’ve lived in Los Angeles.

From what I’ve learned, there are basically two kinds of representation: managers and agents.

Managers provide career support and guidance: their tasks often involve helping a client select classes, coaches or audition pieces; helping the actor determine what roles he/she is best suited for; and helping the actor rehearse; and assisting the actor in choosing which direction to take with his career. Agents, on the other hand, are actually the ones who submit the actor for acting work and auditions and book and negotiate performance contracts, auditions and acting gigs for the performer. The best option is to have both an agent and a manager, as they can often work together to keep the actor headed in the right direction.

From my personal experience the most commonly known way to approach either agents or managers in is by doing mass mailed-in submissions, which typically includes a cover letter, resume, and headshot. Some actors will also include a professional reel, if they have one.

When doing these mass submissions, I definitely recommend keeping things basic. I do not recommend that an actor try any cheesy gimmicks to get his/her headshot looked at over anyone else’s. Agents and managers are completely turned off by this. However, if you’re in a play or showcase, it’s not a bad idea to invite the potential agent, manager or their representatives come and see you. In fact, this is a great way for them to see what how talented you are!

Quite truthfully though, most agents and managers will only look twice at your packet if you were referred to them by a casting agent, client or other reputable industry person. If you would like to get a referral, the best way to do this is through networking. Get out and about amongst other industry people in your city and use your social networking skills. And if you’ve met someone who is impressed with your work, don’t be afraid to ask them for a referral. The worst they can tell you is “no”. So what do you have to lose?

Also, as you begin to search for representation with an agent, make sure you check to see if they are licensed and either franchised by the Screen Actors Guild or a member of the Association of Talent Agents or the National Association of Talent Representatives. Currently, most ATA and NATR members are not franchised by SAG, but may still represent you for union work.

When you look for a manager, know that they are not regulated the way same acting agents are, but you can find out if they’re certified by one of the talent managers’ trade organizations: the Talent Managers Association or the National Conference of Personal Managers. I would also suggest that you ask for client referrals and be cautious of anything that sounds fishy. There are a lot common scams out there, such as reps asking for money up front or requiring you to pay for certain services, like photos or classes. Remember, an actor should never have to pay upfront for an agent or manger. They are only entitled to take a percentage of what you earn for the jobs that they book for you, and nothing more.

Is it possible to become a virgin again? Well, not exactly, but these days, women have the option of undergoing vaginal plastic surgery and hymen reconstruction. This kind of surgery is readily available today and not only does it change the external genital structures, but it also can restore a women’s self-image and self-esteem. The vaginoplasty is what tightens and reconstructs the vagina and all it’s supporting structures to a “pre-pregnancy” state and reestablishing the friction that increases sexual gratification for both women and men, being ideal for women whose vaginas became stretched from aging and child birth.

The reduction and beautification of the vaginal labia minora, is called labiaplasty, and can be performed at the same time of the vaginoplasty or in combination with other plastic and cosmetic procedures, such as breast reduction or augmentation and more. What’s impressive about the vaginal plastic surgery, is that it has a high success rate of bringing back the woman’s sexual desire and excitement. And as a side effect, it can enhance her love life and rejuvenate her sexual urges. Each surgery varies, but typically, a vaginal surgery often involves laser resurfacing of the labia to remove wrinkles, as clitoral repositioning to facilitate stimulation. I found this to be extremely fascinating!

Hymenoplasty is the other phase of vaginal plastic surgery and essentially is the reconstruction of the hymen. This procedure returns the female sexual organ to a pre-sexual state. The candidate for this type of surgery is often one who has suffered child abuse, incest or rape. This surgery also generated a lot of hype because many women lied to their new husbands that they were still virgins, so as to avoid any conflict with their new husband and avid being beaten or possibly even killed by him. Those who seek the surgery believe it’s necessary for their happiness, status and even preservation of life. According to the June 1996 issue of the British medical journal, “The Lancet”, the hymen repair surgery has reduced 80 percent of the murders committed against women on the wedding night in Egypt.

What’s scary is that there is a growing rate of violence with women that aren’t virgin anymore. This is typically due to cultural, social or religious reasons, because the blood of the initial intercourse represents, for them, the purity of a woman and the virility of a man. The hymen repair surgery involves the collect of the ruptured hymen and its connection to a gelatin capsule containing a blood-like substance, which will convince the husband about the woman’s virginity when it bleeds during intercourse. But before a woman undergoes this intense surgery, she needs to really think who she is doing this surgery for. It’s important for her acknowledge if she’s doing the surgery for herself or to please someone else, because building a relationship on lies is not going to help matters.

When making the all important wedding cake decision, it was really important to me to find an amazing cake at an amazing price.

When making the all important wedding cake decision, it was really important for me to find an amazing cake at an amazing price. Sound like a tough feat? Actually, it wasn’t so bad! Here are my top ten tips on how to shop for a wedding cake and stay with (or maybe even under!) your cake budget.

1. Keeping the Design Simple
A simple, but lovely, Swiss-dot pattern, is a lot less expensive than labor-intensive lace patterns or intricate and detailed designs. So when choosing your cake design, basic is the way to go. Get your cost even lower by opting for a perfectly smooth surface with strips of wide ribbon tied around each tier.

2. Faux it
If a grand, tall, dramatic cake is what your heart desires, but your budget just won’t allow it, you can ask to have the bottom tiers made out of real cake and the rest out of iced Styrofoam. Ta-da!

3. Cherished cake topper
Ask parents or grandparents for an heirloom antique topper. It makes a nice personal touch and it’s free!

4. Fresh costs less
Consider topping your cake with fresh fruit or flowers. Though this idea may see more costly, it’s actually less! Sugar-icing and marzipan decorations are labor-intensive and therefore more costly. Maybe even consider some non-heavy fruits that won’t sink into the cake, such as cherries, strawberries or small bunches of sugared champagne grapes.

5. Everyone Loves Dessert
I went to a wedding where this one done and absolutely LOVED the idea! Instead of the traditional wedding cake serve cupcakes, cheesecakes, pastries or pies stacked in tiers or some other fancy display.

6. For Display Only
Use a small, beautifully designed wedding cake for the ceremonial cutting, but then have a few sheet cakes in the kitchen to serve your guests with.

7. Go with just one flavor
Sure the idea of all those cake flavors is exciting, but you’ll save a lot of money if your cake maker only has to make one type of cake and filling.

8. Shape Up
The shape of the cake is where you can really save big. A standard square cake will serve 10 to 30 percent more people than a round cake of the same dimensions

9. Skip the Groom’s Cake
True, this is a fun idea and tradition, but groom’s cakes can definitely be on the pricey side—especially if you’re going for an elaborate theme. Plus, guests really don’t expect a groom’s cake, so why spend the extra money?

10. Stick with a Pro
Sure, it’s tempting – to go with a well-meaning friend, or a baker who’s brand new to the wedding cake biz, but it’s important to keep in mind that this could end up costing you more in failed attempts. With so many options out there, it’s always best to work with a pro – you’ll be able to find one who can make you a beautiful wedding cake and stay within your budget.
